Gordiichuk, was born in 1961. In 1987, he graduated with honors from the Chernivtsi State Medical Institute with a degree in "Medicine." From 1990 to 1993, he was a postgraduate student at the Kyiv Institute for Advanced Training of Physicians specializing in "Surgery." In 1993, he defended his candidate dissertation on "The effectiveness of thymectomy in the treatment of generalized myasthenia, recurrences, and their correction."

He has been a candidate of medical sciences since 1994 and an associate professor of the Department of Surgery since 1999. While working at the Department of Surgery, he also worked part-time as a surgeon in emergency surgical departments.

In 1997, he initiated the establishment of the "Emergency Surgical Care Center for Patients with Intestinal Obstruction" in Kyiv based at "Medmistecko" and provided its organizational and methodological support.

He defended his doctoral dissertation on "Intestinal obstruction of tumor genesis as a problem of emergency surgery" in 2002 at the meeting of the specialized academic council at the Institute of Surgery and Transplantology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine. In 2004, he was transferred to the position of associate professor of the Department of Oncology of the Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, since 2006 till now work as professor of the Department of Oncology.

The author of four educational manuals and 157 publications, including 136 scientific and 21 educational-methodical ones, as well as nine patents in Ukraine. Achievements presented at national and international congresses, conferences, and symposiums on the treatment of locally advanced gastric and colorectal cancer have received positive evaluation and support. Medical experience of P. Gordiichuk is 36 years old and holds the title of Doctor of the Highest Qualification in the specialties of Oncology and Oncosurgery. Throughout his surgical career, he has performed over 5500 surgeries on organs of the thoracic and abdominal cavities. Currently, the priority areas of his scientific and surgical activities include studying the problem of locally advanced gastric and rectal cancer, as well as extensively utilizing organ-preserving surgeries in the comprehensive treatment of distal rectal cancer. Since 2004, he has been implementing proctectomy with favorable immediate and long-term treatment outcomes and ensuring a decent quality of life for patients. He is the author of implemented methods for the formation and prevention of insolvency of colorectal anastomosis, as well as alloplasty in reconstructive and reconstructive-restorative surgeries. He is a member of the National Association of Oncologists of Ukraine (NAOU), the Ukrainian Society of Surgical Oncology (USSO), the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO), the International Association of Surgeons, Gastroenterologists, and Oncologists (IASGO).
