On 16 October 2026, the latest interdisciplinary masterclass, “Metabolic and Reproductive Health in Kidney Disease,” was held as part of NEPHROHUB, a scientific and educational initiative.

The event was organised with the scientific partnership of the Department of Nephrology and Renal Replacement Therapy and the Department of Urology at Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine.

The masterclass was delivered in line with the requirements and standards of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). Participants were therefore able to receive both national continuing professional development (CPD) points and international AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™, awarded in accordance with the duration of their participation in the programme.

As has become a NEPHROHUB tradition, the day began with an ABCDE health screening for physicians. Participants were offered an assessment of key indicators of cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic health, including albuminuria, blood pressure, cholesterol, glycaemic status, and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR). Beyond its practical value, the initiative served as a timely reminder that prevention and regular health monitoring are equally important for healthcare professionals themselves.

The scientific programme brought together nephrologists, urologists, cardiologists, endocrinologists, rheumatologists, paediatricians, transplant specialists, and obstetricians and gynaecologists. The programme focused on interdisciplinary care for patients with chronic kidney disease, contemporary approaches to organ protection, the identification and management of metabolic disorders, reproductive health, paediatric nephrology, transplantation, and strategies to prevent the progression of kidney disease.

A defining feature of NEPHROHUB is its integration of evidence-based medicine, clinically relevant education, and active professional exchange. The interactive format enabled participants to discuss complex clinical scenarios, engage directly with experts, and explore how closer interdisciplinary collaboration can improve the care of patients with kidney disease.
