A significant segment of the pharmaceutical market of Ukraine is made up of drugs of foreign production. The development of new domestic drugs of combined action will help address the issue of import substitution and the availability of the population to new quality, effective and safe drugs.  The Department of Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmacy is conducting research on the development of new drugs and medical and cosmetic products, in particular, soft dosage forms of combined action and solutions for peritoneal dialysis.

The lack of a range of mild dosage forms for the treatment of gynecological diseases requires the development of scientific and methodological approaches to the development of new drugs for topical treatment based on antimicrobial, antifungal, spermicidal and anti-inflammatory drugs of synthetic and natural origin.

The incidence of acne and demodicosis is significantly increased. According to the scientific organization of the European Dermatological Forum, the disease of demodicosis can turn into acne.  Therefore, it is important to create new drugs for the treatment of acne and demodicosis.

The main direction of scientific research of the department is scientific and practical substantiation of the composition and technology of medical and medical-cosmetic means (№ state registration 0117U002461). 

Scientific achievements of the department

Professor L. Davtian conducts research to create and develop scientifically sound technology of innovative drugs (drug films, foam aerosols, matrix tablets).

Professor Koritnyuk R. theoretically and experimentally substantiated the technological processes that ensure the stability of a number of prescriptions of plasma-substituting solutions of polyelectrolyte composition with energy substrates in large-capacity packaging of glass and polyvinyl chloride, as well as in the form of dry and liquid concentrates in ampoules.  This allowed, based on the study of the needs of resuscitation, surgical, burn clinics to scientifically substantiate the technology of plasma replacement solutions for their industrial and pharmaceutical production.  The combination of technological and physico-chemical research has ensured the creation of technological bases and the organization of the production of polyionic solutions of various modifications.

Under the guidance of a professor. Korytniuk R. For the first time in Ukraine, industrial and pharmaceutical technology for the production of combined energy-polyionic solutions for infusions and solutions for peritoneal dialysis is being developed. The methods of control have been worked out, regulatory technical documentation projects have been developed, which has made it possible to introduce certain fragments of technological and analytical research into industrial production.

The department also conducted research in the field of drug technology in the historical aspect. The processed historical literature has enriched specialists with knowledge of drug technology, and also has given new life to some dosage forms. Technologies of a number of new prescriptions of homeopathic medicines are developed.

Professor Drozdova A. works in the field of creating drugs of local action with antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory activity for gynecology.  Prof.  Drozdova A. substantiates the technology of production of aerosols, creams, films and gels.

The senior lecturer of the department Olifirova T. has developed a scientifically based technology of extemporaneous and industrial production of a number of soft medicines.
