Over 100 experts from Ukraine and worldwide discussed reflexotherapy methods for rehabilitating war victims at a seminar hosted by SNHUU.

On June 19, 2025, the Department of Family Medicine and Outpatient Care of Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine, in collaboration with the NGO "Ukrainian Association of Reflexotherapy and Medical Acupuncture" and the Neuroorthopedics Laboratory of the State Institution "Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics of NAMS of Ukraine," with support from the Ukrainian Federation of Professional Medical Organizations, held a scientific-practical seminar with international participation. The event, themed "Clinical Significance of Acupuncture and Non-Invasive Reflexotherapy Methods in Comprehensive Rehabilitation of War Victims," brought together leading experts from Ukraine, France, Greece, Germany, Lithuania, and the USA.

The seminar, held in a hybrid format, enabled international attendees to participate online. Despite attempts by hostile hackers to disrupt the broadcast, the event was successful, serving as a platform for professional exchange.

The guest of honor, Dr. Patrick Sautreuil (France), President of ICMART, presented the report "Amputation Pain and Neuro-Acupuncture," sharing expertise on using acupuncture to alleviate phantom pain in amputees. Professor Olga Kovalenko, Head of the Department, discussed the rehabilitative potential of Reflexotherapy for mine-explosive injuries, while Professor Olga Yurik presented modern approaches to selecting acupuncture points for Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers with phantom pain syndrome.

Participants, including Dr. Konstantina Theodoratou (Greece), Dr. Eugenia Smola (Germany), Dr. Anna Nevoit (Lithuania), and Dr. Vazgen Symonian (USA), discussed alternative medicine methods applicable at the primary care level for self-help in managing pain syndromes, asthenia, and urgent conditions. PhD student Andriy Gerasymenko presented research on locomotor diagnostics of thigh and knee joint pain.

The discussions featured experienced Reflexotherapy specialists from Ukraine: PhD, neurologist Maryna Rubanista, and Candidate of Medical Sciences, pediatric neurologist Volodymyr Abramenko.

Supported organizationally by Vice-Rector for Research, Education, and International Cooperation Oleh Shevchenko, the event fostered an atmosphere of professionalism and collaboration. The University plans to continue such initiatives to advance medical and psychological rehabilitation in Ukraine.
