On December 24, 2019, at the Kovel Territorial Medical Association (MTMO) hospital, a team of doctors of the Heart Institute, led by the director of the Institute, Professor Boris Todurov, successfully completed a heart transplant to a recipient with marked dilated cardiomyopathy. This surgery became the first in Ukraine in the last 15 years to have a heart transplant.

J-Project was founded in 2004 by the initiative of Professor of Debrecen University Laszlo Marodi (Hungary) as a scientific and educational project devoted to the dissemination of knowledge among the medical community about primary immunodeficiencies in Central and Eastern European countries. Department of Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Pediatric Immunology joined J-Project since its foundation in the clinical and scientific field of primary immunodeficiencies.

Within the framework of interinstitutional cooperation, at the end of September, Professor Volodymyr Krasnov, Head of the Department of Pedagogy, Psychology, Medical and Pharmaceutical Law conducted a training workshop " Innovation in the educational process: the skills of the professions of the future" for students of Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University (KNU). Within three hours, together with the staff of the Ukrainian-Chinese Innovation Center of Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University, students developed skills of establishing effective communication.
