The Department of Emergency Medicine of the Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine continues its active educational activities aimed at implementing modern approaches to medical practice and supporting the professional development of physicians throughout the regions of Ukraine.
A workshop titled “Psychological First Aid and Crisis Communication in Medical Practice” was held in the city of Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi and conducted by the Head of the Department, Professor Anton O. Volosovets. The event brought together physicians from local healthcare institutions providing both primary and specialized medical care.
As part of the training program, participants reviewed modern approaches to providing psychological support to patients in acute crisis situations, mechanisms of stress response development, and principles of effective communication under emotionally demanding conditions. Particular attention was devoted to the physician’s role in building trust, reducing patient anxiety, and ensuring psychological safety during medical interactions.
The practical component of the workshop included:
— emotional stabilization and self-control techniques;
— crisis communication algorithms for interaction with patients and their relatives;
— conflict de-escalation strategies;
— approaches to preventing professional burnout among healthcare professionals.
The training was conducted in an interactive format involving clinical case discussions and simulation of practical scenarios, enabling participants to improve their skills in managing complex communicative and emotionally stressful situations.
Such educational initiatives contribute to enhancing physicians’ professional competencies and promoting a modern culture of medical communication, which is an essential component of high-quality, patient-centered healthcare.
The Department of Emergency Medicine will continue implementing educational projects aimed at supporting the medical community and improving the healthcare system of Ukraine.
