The Department of Emergency Medicine of the Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine continues to implement educational initiatives aimed at improving physicians’ professional skills and introducing modern approaches to healthcare delivery under conditions of increased psycho-emotional stress.
A two-day workshop titled “Psychological First Aid and Crisis Communication in Medical Practice” was held in the city of Rososha and conducted by the Head of the Department, Professor Anton O. Volosovets. The event brought together physicians from primary and specialized healthcare institutions of the community.
During the training, participants became acquainted with modern approaches to providing psychological support to patients in crisis situations, особенностями communication under stress conditions, and effective interaction algorithms for working with patients and their family members. Considerable attention was devoted to the early identification of anxiety- and stress-related conditions in clinical practice.
As part of the practical component of the workshop, physicians practiced:
— rapid emotional stabilization techniques;
— crisis communication and conflict de-escalation strategies;
— skills for building trust in physician–patient interactions;
— approaches to preventing professional burnout among healthcare workers.
The educational event was conducted in an interactive format involving clinical case discussions and role-playing scenarios, allowing participants to develop practical competencies in situations closely resembling real clinical settings.
Such workshops constitute an important component of continuous professional development and contribute to the formation of a modern healthcare model in which clinical expertise is combined with effective communication and psychological support for patients.
The Department of Emergency Medicine will continue its active educational activities aimed at supporting physicians and improving the quality of healthcare delivery in Ukraine.
