The Department of Occupational Medicine, Psychophysiology and Medical Ecology was founded in March 1, 2012 by order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the relevant decision of the Academic Board of Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education.

The department was created to implement the postgraduate medical training of the specialists of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service and the experts of other institutions for occupational hygiene, occupational diseases, aviation-marine medicine, psychophysiology, medical ecology.

Its training activities the department began in June 2012. Hygienists, occupational pathologists, psychophysiologists, aviation and marine doctors and medical ecologists are trained at the department’s specialized and pre-certification courses; they improve their knowledge and skills at the thematic advanced training courses.

In 2012-2013 the department was headed by MD, Dr. Sc., Full Professor, the Honored Health Care Worker of Ukraine Anatoliy I. Yena.

Since 2013 MD, Dr. Sc., Full Professor, Senior Researcher, the Honored Doctor of Ukraine Denys V. Varyvonchyk has been the head of the department.
