The first human heart transplantation was performed by Christian Barnard from South Africa in December 1967. Immediately after this event, Dr Norman Shamway and his colleagues at Stanford University in January 1968 conducted the first human heart transplantation in the United States.

On November 14, a regular consultation of specialists in comorbid conditions was held with the participation of the staff of the Department of Cardiology of the Shupik National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education.
