Among the numerous scientific directions actively pursued by the collective of the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery at the Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine under the leadership of its head – honored doctor of Ukraine, Doctor of Medicine, Professor Savoliuk S.I., a direction that stands out for its complexity and modern surgical technology is simultaneous (combined, hybrid) surgery of the abdominal cavity, retroperitoneal space, and pelvis, which is implemented at the clinical bases of the department.

The accumulation and generalization of a vast departmental clinical experience in applying a multimodal fast-track surgery program has allowed for a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to the modern solution of complex surgical problems – the simultaneous minimally traumatic minimally invasive treatment of combined pathologies of the abdominal cavity, retroperitoneal space, and pelvis. This includes interesting practical cases of simultaneous interventions in anti-reflux, bariatric, and colorectal surgery, in multidisciplinary surgery of infiltrative retrocervical endometriosis, diaphragmatic and abdominal hernias surgery, adhesive peritoneal disease surgery, complex abdominal wall defect reconstruction, urgent and elective gynecology, coloproctology, and phlebology.

The vast amount of clinical information collected by the team of the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery is transformed into scientific research projects, dissertations, articles, and in the training of specialized professionals in thematic improvement and specialization cycles.
