EXCERPT FROM THE TERMS OF USE of the Scientific Library of the Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine

Users' rights

  1. The right to use the library is granted to physicians (pharmacists) - interns, physicians - attendees of the training cycles of the PAC, thematic improvement, specialization and internship, PhD students, clinical residents studying at the university, as well as research and teaching staff and employees of the university structural subdivisions.

University part-time employees, students of other higher medical educational institutions, medical professionals of the city, as well as employees of medical-related industries have the right to use the library only in the reading room.

  1. The users have the right to borrow educational, scientific, methodological, reference literature on a subscription basis and in the reading room; use all types of reference and bibliographic services, receive consulting assistance in searching for information sources, and participate in events organized by the library.
  2. To register in the library, a physician (pharmacist) - intern must submit an "Intern Card". A physician participating in the training cycles of the PAC, thematic improvement, specialization and internship, information and internship should submit a "Attendee's Card". A PhD student should submit a PhD certificate, a university employee should submit a passport and a certificate from the HR department of the NHU of Ukraine, valid for the current year.
  3. Based on the submitted documents, a reader's form is filled out.
  4. Before signing up for the library, the user must familiarize themselves with the rules of using the library and confirm their obligation to comply with them by signing the reader's form.
  5. Users have the right to borrow scientific literature for study outside the library for up to 30 days at a time, no more than:
  • academic and teaching staff, masters, PhD students, clinical residents and researchers - 5-10 copies
  • physicians (pharmacists) - interns and doctors - attendees of the training cycles of the PAC, thematic improvement, specialization and internship - up to 5 copies;
  • other categories of users - up to 3 copies.
  1. The period of use of new acquisitions, documents of high reader demand, periodicals may be reduced to 10 days.
  2. Educational literature is issued in a certain amount for the period specified in curricula and programs.
  3. Encyclopedias, atlases, albums and other reference publications, rare and valuable books, publications on electronic media are issued only to the reading room and are not subject to photocopying.
  • The use of unpublished materials (dissertations) is carried out on the basis of the user's application with the permission of the Vice-Rector for Research and only in the reading room.
  • The period of use of documents may be extended at the request of the user if there is no demand for them from other users.

1.   To register to the university library, visitors present a passport, service or postgraduate certificate, certificate from the HR department (scientific department). A physician attendee of the training cycles of the PAC, thematic improvement, specialization and internship, internship information presents a "Attendee's Card", a physician (pharmacist) - intern - " Intern's Card".

2.   The users are obliged to take care of books and other printed works borrowed from the library's collections, returning them within the established time limits; do not take literature out of the reading room without the librarian's permission; do not make any notes, tear out or fold pages in the received documents; do not take out cards from catalogs and file cabinets; do not disturb the arrangement of open access collections.

3.   To obtain literature, the user fills out a reader's request form on a subscription and in the reading room upon oral request; puts the date and signature on the reader's and book form for each copy. The return of documents shall be certified by the librarian's signature.

4.   Each document issued on a subscription basis is recorded in the reader's form and confirmed by the user's signature.

5.   While using the documents of the library collection, the user should treat them with care, check their quantity and presence of damage upon receipt, and in case of defects, inform the librarian, who is obliged to make a corresponding note. Otherwise, the user is responsible for any defects in the books.

6.   Users who have caused damage to the library collection shall bear material, administrative or criminal liability in accordance with the legislation of Ukraine.

7.   Users who have lost or damaged books from the library collection must replace them with the same or equivalent books determined by the library. If replacement is not possible, the user should make a copy of the publication. In case of loss of particularly valuable publications for the library, the method of replacement and its multiplicity is determined by the library commission separately for each publication at prices determined by catalogs of book publishing houses for purchase and sale of second-hand, antiquarian, and other publications.

8.   The replacement of literature lost or damaged by the user is recorded in a special replacement notebook and confirmed by the user's signature.

9.   Employees of the University who resign, physicians - interns, PhD students, clinical residents who transfer to another educational institution, apply for academic leave, transfer from one form of study to another, prepare documents for a long trip abroad under various programs, expelled from the University, etc. must fully comply with the library and sign a bypass sheet on the absence of debts to receive documents.

10.Users must observe silence in the reading room and other library premises.

11.A user who violates the rules of using the library is banned from using it for a period determined by the library.
