The Department of Urology, which originated in 1923 when were organized the urology advanced courses for surgeons, dermatologists and the doctors of other specialities, was founded in 1929 as the independent department among those in Kyiv Medical Refresher Institute. The organizer and first head of the department was the founder of the Ukrainian urology scholar school Full ProfessorAndronik A. Chaika.

Honoured Scientist of Ukraine (1947), MD (1914), Full Professor, Major General of Medical Service, head of the Department of Urology (1929-1943). Author of about 150 scientific papers.
Participated in Russian-Japan War (1905), World War I (1914) and the Great Patriotic War. Was awarded the Order of Lenin, 2 Orders of the Red Banner, the Order of the Red Star, medals.

MD, PhD, Full Professor (1937, for accumulated scientific works), head of the Department of Urology (1945-1953). Underwent urology study courses in Germany and France (1927). Was awarded medals.

Pavlo M. Fedorchenko (1918-2002)
