Practical skills are an integral part of training a doctor of any specialty. This is especially important for interns in surgical specialties. An anesthesiologist, after going to work independently, regardless of the theoretical baggage of knowledge behind him, must have the skills that make him a real specialist.

The Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care has always paid great attention to the practical training of interns. Thus, in addition to training in operating rooms and intensive care units, our students had the opportunity to gain this kind of knowledge during training with mannequins and participate in a large number of master classes organized by the department for young doctors. In order to improve the specialists who are just taking the first steps in their profession, the department organized an annual scientific-practical conference "Youth Anesthesiology Conference".

But now the COVID-19 epidemic is raging in the world, which makes some adjustments to the educational process towards distance education. Therefore, this year we conducted this exam in full compliance with epidemiological conditions. Due to this, the exam lasted not 1-2 days, but more than a week. It was held at 10 bases of the department and was hosted by 14 teachers. As a norm, we took half an hour for one student. With this approach, each teacher had the full opportunity to ensure the training of interns who have been trained within the department for the past 2 years. Also, one of the conditions was objectivity, so the interns passed the exam to a teacher from another group.

As a result, we received positive feedback from interns, some of whom stayed in clinics after the exam to help with the treatment process. And no less important is the fact that the teachers of the department were satisfied with the level of training. Thus, 51.7% passed "excellent", 38.9% "good" and 9.4% "satisfactory".
