International Educational Marathon continues with the 7th webinar for Ukrainian pathologists focused on diagnosing aggressive lymphoma.
Despite the ongoing challenges of wartime that continue to test the resilience of the Ukrainian healthcare system, the collaboration between Ukrainian specialists and leading global institutions is only growing stronger. On February 17, 2026, another significant event took place as part of the joint initiative between the Department of Clinical Pathology, and Forensic Medicine of the Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine, the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Louisville (USA), the Royal College of Pathologists (UK), and the International Academy of Pathology.
This meeting marked the 7th webinar in a long-term educational series designed to provide Ukrainian physicians with access to world-class expertise. The featured speaker was the renowned expert, Dr. Samer Z. Al-Quran (MD), who delivered a comprehensive lecture titled: "Aggressive B-cell Lymphoma."
During the lecture, Dr. Al-Quran delved into the complex aspects of the morphological diagnosis of lymphoproliferative diseases, focusing primarily on B-cell neoplasms. A critical part of the presentation included an overview of the latest updates in the WHO Classification of Tumours, which is essential for standardizing diagnostic processes in Ukraine according to international protocols.
The presentation highlighted several crucial areas:
- Multidisciplinary Approach: The lecturer explained the nuances of interpreting results from immunohistochemistry (IHC), molecular genetic testing, and flow cytometry.
- Prognostic Markers: Al-Quran demonstrated which specific morphological findings can currently be utilized as reliable prognostic factors to determine further treatment strategies.
- Clinical Correlation: He emphasized that a precise pathomorphological diagnosis is impossible without an in-depth analysis of the patient's clinical data.
Following the tradition of this webinar series, the online event brought together pathologists from various regions of Ukraine. Even under difficult conditions, doctors continue to find ways to join the sessions, proving their unwavering commitment to professional excellence.
The webinar concluded with a vibrant Q&A session, during which Dr. Al-Quran answered practical questions from his Ukrainian colleagues.
This educational project, scheduled to continue through the summer, stands as a testament to true professional solidarity.
