To improve the training of specialists in medical statistics, according to the Decree of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine of 05.10.1998 № 292 "On approval of the reform of medical statistics" and the approval of the Ministry of Health of 30.01.2001 № 8.02-31/297 the Department of Medical Statistics was created, which is currently the only one in Ukraine.
The department focuses on three directions of itsteaching work i.eproviding postgraduate training of medical statisticians, thematic advanced training of clinicians in statistical accounting using the International Classification of Diseases, 10th revision (ICD-10); thematic advanced training of physicians and research workers in biostatistics and evidence-based medicine.
The major scientific research of the department is to optimize theinformation data ware of the public health system’s management.
Working together with the public health bodies and institutions the department deals with organizing training and retraining of physicians, providing the public health bodies and institutions with organizational and methodological assistance to improve their data ware, implementing the scientific developments of the department into the public health practice.
