The Department of General and Emergency Surgery was founded in 1936 when the necessity in the advanced training of general surgeons became urgent.
In 1996 the Department of Surgery No1 was renamed the Department of Surgery and Burn Disease due to the Course of Burn Disease became its part. In 2005 it was named the Department of Surgery and Combustiology. In 2007 it was created the Department of Combustiology and Plastic Surgery. In 2007 the department was renamed the Department of General and Emergency Surgery.
