The Department of Emergency Medical Aid was founded on 17 March 1988 by the order of the Ministry of Health of the USSR.
In 2003 the department was renamed the Department of Emergency Medical Conditions.
The first head of the department was Full Professor Ya. V. Hoer. Since 3 December 1991 the department has been headed by Full Professor Ivan S. Zozulia. The department consists of 9 members.
