On May 12 and 13, 2022, at the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology № 2, a two-day professional seminar was held remotely on the Zoom platform on the military medical theme "Peculiarities of treatment of combat injuries of limbs" with the involvement of a foreign speaker.

At the seminar, the features of the treatment of combat injuries of injuries of the upper and lower extremities were considered. The issues of primary surgical treatment of wounds and replacement of the method of fixation in case of gunshot wounds of the extremities were discussed. The issues of using external fixation devices in the treatment of combat and high-energy injuries of the musculoskeletal system were outlined.

The main guest of the professional seminar was MD, Professor, Reiner SCHNETTLER with a report on his experience in saving limbs and reconstructing bone defects in gunshot and mine-explosive wounds. Professor SCHNETTLER is a renowned specialist in trauma surgery, large joint arthroscopy and bone defect regeneration. Doctor of Medical Sciences, Colonel of the Medical Service, Head of the Trauma Department of the Injury Clinic of the National Military Medical Clinical Center of the "Main Military Clinical Hospital", Chief Traumatologist of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuriy Yarmolyuk was also involved in the seminar, who highlighted the main systems of treatment of victims with gunshot fractures of long bones.

All participants of the seminar actively participated in the discussion of clinical cases and options for surgical treatment of patients with mine-explosive injuries of the upper and lower extremities in one case or another.
