The scientific activity of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine continues to actively integrate into the global medical space. On April 10-11, a landmark event in the field of reproductive health took place - a meeting of the International Society of Placenta Accreta Spectrum (IS-PAS).
The event was held in a mixed format, bringing together leading experts from around the world to discuss the most complex pathologies of modern obstetrics. The delegation of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, led by Professor Oleg Golyanovsky, with the involvement of postgraduate students of the department S. Frolov and D. Fedorenko, presented the results of their own scientific research to the international community.
The report was dedicated to the topic “Optimization of cesarean section technique to prevent isthmocele and abnormal placental invasion (PAS)”. The paper presented an improved technique for restoring uterine integrity, in particular the hysterorrhaphy technique without endometrial involvement (endometrial-free closure). The problem of increasing cesarean section frequency and related complications, such as niches (istmocele) and the spectrum of placental ingrowth, is a global challenge. The technique proposed by our scientists allows to minimize the formation of niches and reduce the risks of implantation of the ovum in the scar area in the future.
The speech aroused keen interest and received positive feedback from IS-PAS experts. Colleagues noted not only the clinical effectiveness of the proposed solutions, but also the high scientific validity of the approaches based on the modern experience of the department.
Participation in events of this level confirms that the scientific developments of the Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine meet the highest world standards and have a direct impact on improving perinatal outcomes and preserving the reproductive health of women.
