The Department of Language Training and Humanitarian Disciplines at NUOZU, under the leadership of Associate Professor L. Shevchenko, continues to strengthen its reputation as a centre of academic excellence by implementing new international teaching initiatives aimed at enhancing the linguistic competence of its postgraduate community. As part of the department’s ongoing commitment to innovation in language education, pedagogical staff members L. Saienko and L. Lichman invited native English-speaking tutors to conduct a series of advanced interactive sessions for the students and programme participants.
Their approach combines rigorous linguistic training with practical, real-world applications, ensuring that participants develop not only technical proficiency but also confidence and fluency in complex academic and professional contexts. These sessions mark an important milestone in the department’s strategic effort to broaden students’ access to authentic linguistic environments and real-life communication practices. By integrating native speakers into the educational process, the department enables learners to encounter genuine linguistic diversity, deepen their understanding of cultural nuances, and cultivate the level of communicative confidence required for effective participation in international academic discourse. Throughout the programme, students and listeners engaged in high-level discussions, academic debates, and practical language tasks guided by the invited instructors. Native English-speaking teachers introduced students to contemporary linguistic trends, idiomatic structures, and specialised terminology relevant to scientific research, professional collaboration, and global scholarly exchange. These activities not only enriched the students’ language skills, but also fostered critical thinking, intercultural sensitivity, and the ability to articulate complex ideas with precision and fluency
Associate Professor L. Shevchenko emphasised that the initiative reflects the department’s broader educational mission: to prepare highly qualified researchers and professionals capable of functioning confidently in an increasingly interconnected world. According to her, partnerships with native-speaker experts represent an essential component of modern language training, allowing students to achieve the advanced proficiency necessary for successful academic careers and international cooperation. The Department of Language Training and Humanitarian Disciplines is proud to champion these innovative approaches and remains committed to expanding its network of global academic partners. Future plans include regular workshops with visiting lecturers, cross-cultural communication seminars, and the development of integrated language modules tailored to the evolving needs of postgraduate education. Through these initiatives, the department reaffirms its standing as a forward-thinking, dynamic, and student-centred academic unit - one that consistently delivers high-quality language training and actively contributes to the university’s global academic presence.
The students’ feedback reflects the participants’ appreciation for the course and the dedication of the teaching staff: “I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the English course we attended. Your professionalism and positive attitude created an engaging and supportive learning environment. The practice sessions with native English speakers were especially valuable and enriched our practical communication skills. I am confident that the knowledge gained will support our future scientific work and help us build professional connections with researchers worldwide. With gratitude, Luhina Serhiy - PhD student, Department of Prosthetic Dentistry, Digital Technologies and Implantology, Shupyk National University of Public Health of Ukraine.”
We warmly invite our future listeners and students to join us, engage actively, and deepen their knowledge through our innovative and immersive educational programmes.
