The department of cardiology at Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine (SNHUU) held a cardiology elective course. The event aimed to discuss practical solutions for treating patients with comorbid conditions. The topic generated particular interest among cardiologists, internists, family doctors, endocrinologists, and nephrologists.

The meeting opened with a presentation by Olena Torbas, PhD in medicine, research fellow at the department of secondary and pulmonary hypertension of the Strazhesko National Scientific Center “Institute of Cardiology”, titled “Anticoagulant therapy – balancing safety and efficacy.” Special attention was given to the management of patients with cerebrovascular diseases.

In the lecture “How to maintain target blood pressure in patients with joint pain syndrome?”, prof. Liudmyla Khimion, MD, head of the department of therapy, family medicine, hematology, and transfusiology of SHNUU, addressed the use of NSAIDs, their cardiovascular effects, and management strategies for patients with NSAID-induced hypertension. The lecturer also presented new clinical data on the efficacy, safety, and potential side effects of this drug group.

The event concluded with a masterclass by prof. Maryna Dolzhenko, MD, head of the department of cardiology at SHNUU, focused on blood pressure control in patients with obesity, the risks of kidney injury, and the occurrence of MACE, based on the latest European guidelines from 2024–2025.

The event has become a platform for sharing experiences and contributing to the improvement of treatment for comorbid conditions. Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine continues to support the professional development of healthcare professionals.
