On June 2, 2026, Associate Professor Olha H. Kramareva of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine participated in the workforce planning sessions for the specialties of Emergency Medicine and Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care, organized by the World Health Organization (WHO) Country Office in Ukraine.
Professor Kramareva attended the event as a representative of Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine within the framework of the Technical Working Group on Health Workforce Planning. The working sessions constituted a continuation of the implementation of methodological recommendations on health workforce forecasting developed with the support of the WHO Regional Office for Europe and provided to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
During the sessions, participants discussed key issues related to long-term health workforce planning, forecasting future staffing needs, and improving workforce capacity across critical medical specialties. Particular attention was devoted to the fields of Emergency Medicine and Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care, which play a vital role in ensuring the resilience and effectiveness of Ukraine’s healthcare system.
The participation of representatives from higher medical education institutions in such initiatives is an important component of intersectoral cooperation among the academic community, professional associations, international partners, and governmental authorities. The recommendations and proposals developed during the working sessions will contribute to strategic decision-making aimed at strengthening the healthcare workforce of Ukraine.
The Department of Emergency Medicine at Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine continues to actively engage in national and international initiatives focused on advancing medical education, improving physician training, and strengthening the human resources capacity of Ukraine’s healthcare sector.
