The one-time Specialized Academic Council D 26.613.238 at the Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine held the defense of the dissertation by Lidiia Danylіvna Denova, postgraduate student of the Department of Nephrology and Renal Replacement Therapy.
The dissertation, entitled “Uromodulin Profile: Clinical and Laboratory Assessment, Significance in Early Diagnosis and Optimization of Treatment of Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease Stages 1–3”, was successfully defended, resulting in the conferral of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy, formally confirmed by the award of the diploma.
The research, carried out between 2021 and 2025 under the supervision of Professor Stella Viktorivna Kushnirenko, MD, DSc, Honored Doctor of Ukraine and Head of the Department of Nephrology and Renal Replacement Therapy, introduces the concept of the uromodulin profile as an integrated clinical and laboratory indicator. The study demonstrated that this profile serves as a sensitive marker of tubular function and renal reserve. Its application enables the identification of subclinical stages of CKD (stages 1–3), stratification of progression risk, and optimization of individualized treatment and monitoring strategies.
The practical significance of the dissertation lies in the potential implementation of the uromodulin profile as an additional tool for evaluating renal function in routine clinical practice. The findings open new perspectives for early diagnosis and personalized therapeutic approaches in patients with CKD.
This dissertation contributes to the scientific heritage of the Department of Nephrology and Renal Replacement Therapy, which continues the legacy of the Ukrainian school of nephrology founded by academician Liubomyr Antonovych Pyrih, thereby strengthening its standing in national and international nephrology.
