Postgraduate student of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology successfully defended his dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy.
A meeting of the one-time specialized academic council was held at the Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine to defend the dissertation work of the postgraduate student of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Serhii Frolov on the topic: "Prevention and therapy of perinatal complications in pregnant women with sleep disorders".
The work was submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the field of knowledge 22 "Health Care" in the specialty 222 "Medicine" (scientific specialty - "Obstetrics and Gynecology").
The scientific supervisor of the dissertation is Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Professor of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine Oleg Golyanovsky.
Serhii Frolov's dissertation research is devoted to the urgent medical and social problem — optimization of diagnostics, prevention and treatment of perinatal complications in pregnant women with sleep disorders (insomnia). The author scientifically substantiated the pathogenetic role of melatonin deficiency in the formation of placental dysfunction, and also developed and implemented into clinical practice a differentiated complex of therapeutic and preventive measures. The proposed methodology combines innovative technologies of digital cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT-I) with pathogenetic drug support, which allowed to significantly reduce the frequency of premature birth, preeclampsia and operative delivery.
The meeting of the one-time specialized academic council was held under the chairmanship of the head of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology of the Shupyk National Healthсare University of Ukraine, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Serhiy Vdovichenko.
The official opponents were:
- Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Professor of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology No. 1 of the Bukovyna State Medical University Andriy Berbets;
- Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology of the Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University Vira Pirogova.
The reviewers of the dissertation were:
- Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Professor of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Shupyk National Healthсare University of Ukraine Nadiya Zhylka;
- Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Professor of the Department of Reproductive and Prenatal Medicine of the Shupyk National Healthсare University of Ukraine Serhiy Savchenko.
The opponents and reviewers noted the high scientific and theoretical level of the work, the novelty of the results obtained, the solid evidence base and the significant practical significance of the developed treatment and prevention algorithm for obstetric hospitals and perinatal centers.
Following a secret ballot, the members of the Specialized Academic Council unanimously decided to award Serhiy Volodymyrovych Frolov the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the field of knowledge 22 "Health Care" in the specialty 222 "Medicine".
