The Department of Emergency Medicine of the Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine announces the successful completion of the first phase of the training series for physicians from frontline regions entitled “Emergency Ultrasound. POCUS Protocol”, held in the city of Chernihiv.

This educational initiative is implemented under the auspices of the World Health Organization (WHO), the international humanitarian organization MedGlobal, and the Shupyk NHU of Ukraine. Its aim is to strengthen the capacity of healthcare professionals in point-of-care ultrasound diagnostics in resource-limited and high-risk environments.

Over the course of several days, participants underwent intensive training on POCUS (Point-of-Care Ultrasound) protocols, which included both basic and advanced ultrasound assessment of patients in critical conditions. The sessions combined theoretical lectures with practical workshops using modern simulators and clinical ultrasound equipment.

Special focus was given to trauma diagnostics, hemodynamic assessment, pleural and abdominal evaluation, and ultrasound-guided interventional procedures.

Participants emphasized the high level of organization, the relevance of the training topics, and the practical value of the acquired knowledge for everyday clinical work, especially in settings close to combat zones.

The Department of Emergency Medicine extends its sincere gratitude to our partners — WHO and MedGlobal — for their support of this vitally important initiative. The training series is planned to continue in other regions of Ukraine to ensure wider coverage for healthcare professionals who work in extremely challenging conditions and save lives every day.
