The Department of Foreign Languages and Humanitarian Disciplines at NUOZU is pleased to announce the successful completion of the International English Test Preparation Course, a professional development initiative led by Associate Professor Lorena Mykhailenko. The programme was designed to help participants strengthen their advanced English language proficiency and examination skills while supporting academic excellence and international readiness across the university community.

The course focused on preparing participants for Pearson English language assessments and developing key competencies for effective communication in academic and professional settings. Throughout the programme, participants received comprehensive training across all four language domains - speaking, listening, reading, and writing - along with practical strategies for successful performance in examinations and real-world communication.

A key feature of the programme was the balanced combination of theoretical instruction and intensive practical application. Particular attention was given to understanding the structure and requirements of international English language assessments, improving time-management skills, and applying effective techniques for completing a wide range of examination tasks. Through carefully designed learning activities, participants strengthened their academic vocabulary, grammatical accuracy, reading comprehension, writing proficiency, and spoken communication skills.

The training included interactive workshops, collaborative learning activities, realistic mock tests, and individualised feedback sessions, creating a dynamic and supportive learning environment. This learner-centred approach enabled participants to track their progress, identify areas for improvement, and build confidence in their ability to succeed in international English examinations.

The programme attracted strong interest from members of the NUOZU community and was characterised by high levels of engagement, motivation, and commitment throughout its duration. According to participant feedback, the course not only improved language competence and examination readiness but also increased confidence in using English effectively in academic, research, and professional contexts. Participants highlighted the practical relevance of the training, the quality of instruction, and the opportunity to apply newly acquired knowledge through authentic assessment tasks and communicative activities.

The positive outcomes achieved by the participants demonstrate the effectiveness of the programme methodology and the high standard of instruction provided by the Department. Many participants expressed their appreciation for the knowledge and skills gained and confirmed their intention to pursue further professional development through advanced and follow-up training opportunities. The enthusiasm shown by participants reflects the growing demand for high-quality language education and internationally oriented professional development initiatives within the university community.

The successful completion of this programme further highlights NUOZU’s commitment to promoting international standards in higher education, supporting lifelong learning, and creating opportunities for academic and professional growth within the global educational environment. By equipping participants with internationally recognised language competencies, the university continues to strengthen its capacity for international cooperation, academic mobility, research engagement, and intercultural communication.

As part of its ongoing mission to foster professional excellence and global competitiveness, the Department of Foreign Languages and Humanitarian Disciplines will continue to expand its portfolio of educational initiatives. Upcoming programmes include Business English and Professional Correspondence, Academic Writing and Research Skills, Public Speaking and Presentation Skills, Intercultural Communication in Higher Education, English for Specific Purposes (ESP), workshops on CV and cover letter writing, preparation courses for professional examinations, and other targeted professional development opportunities designed to meet the evolving needs of the university community.

The Department of Foreign Languages and Humanitarian Disciplines cordially invites the academic, research, and administrative staff of NUOZU to participate in its training programmes and educational initiatives. We particularly encourage colleagues to join future editions of the International English Test Preparation Course, which has already demonstrated its value in helping participants achieve meaningful progress in their language proficiency and examination performance. We look forward to welcoming new participants and continuing to support the development of English-language proficiency as well as academic and professional competencies that contribute to the University’s international engagement and academic success.
