On January 15, 2026, a professional seminar was held at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology to review the dissertation of Kateryna Viktorivna Suprunyuk, a 4th year postgraduate student studying under the program for the preparation of candidates for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy. The dissertation research was carried out on the topic "Differentiated approach to the management of pregnancy and childbirth in women with uterine leiomyoma" in the specialty 14.01.01 - obstetrics and gynecology.
The relevance of the chosen topic is due to the high prevalence of uterine leiomyoma among women of reproductive age and the increase in the proportion of pregnancies against its background, which is accompanied by an increased risk of complications for both the mother and the fetus. Modern clinical practice requires individualized approaches to the management of such pregnancies, taking into account the size, localization and clinical course of myomatous nodes, as well as obstetric history and concomitant pathology. The presented work demonstrates a systematic approach to solving this problem, which is of great importance for increasing the effectiveness of preventing pregnancy complications, optimizing delivery tactics and improving perinatal outcomes.
The scientific supervisor of the dissertation is Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Oleg Volodymyrovych Golyanovsky. The professional seminar was attended by Professors Kirill Volodymyrovych Chaika, Oleksandr Anatoliyovych Voloshyn, Serhiy Yuriyovych Vdovichenko, Tamara Grigoriyevna Romanenko and Nadiya Yakivna Zhilka, Associate Professors Olga Vitaliyivna Morozova, Galina Mykolayivna Zhaloba, Larisa Yuriyivna Staselovich, and employees of the department, who during the discussion provided a thorough assessment of the presented study.
The members of the commission noted the high level of theoretical justification, scientific novelty and practical orientation of the obtained results, as well as their potential for implementation in the daily clinical practice of healthcare institutions. It was emphasized that the results of the study can contribute to the improvement of clinical protocols for the management of pregnant women with uterine leiomyoma and the reduction of the frequency of obstetric and perinatal complications.
The professional seminar was successful, and the dissertation received a positive assessment and was recommended for further submission for consideration by a one-time specialized academic council. The staff of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and all participants of the seminar wished Suprunyuk Kateryna Viktorivna further scientific successes and a successful official defense of the dissertation.
