On February 12, 2022, the Department of Ophthalmology of the Shupyk National University of Health of Ukraine together with the GO "Association of Pediatric Ophthalmologists and Optometrists of Ukraine" held a scientific-practical conference with international participation "Ophthalmological Spring without preservatives", which was held online.
The official website of the conference (https://eyesvesna.in.ua ) was created, where at the beginning of the conference 2,500 ophthalmologists, pediatric ophthalmologists and optometrists of Ukraine registered and joined. During the first day more than 14,000 doctors joined the conference, including ophthalmologists from Latvia, Lithuania, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.
The purpose of the conference is to spread the latest knowledge and skills in ophthalmology and optometry.
The conference program included three sectional sessions of thematic lectures ("Diseases of the anterior segment of the eye"; "Surgery. Problematic aspects in the treatment of glaucoma and cataracts"; "Current issues in the diagnosis and treatment of retinal pathology") and training in practical skills. At the end of each section, a panel discussion was held with the participation of speakers and answers to numerous questions from ophthalmologists who came in the chat.
Thanks to the introduction of advanced technologies, during the conference students from all regions of Ukraine had the opportunity to join lectures and training of leading domestic and foreign experts. All lectures and trainings were broadcast live on the Internet on YouTube.
Special attention was paid to the training of young Ukrainian ophthalmologists, interns and optometrists. They had the opportunity to connect to master the skills of OCT-angiography, selection of contact lenses, work on modern equipment for the detection of dystrophic and degenerative retinal diseases in a special training "From cornea to retina", during which lively online discussions were held. clinical examples and complex cases were considered and discussed, and numerous questions were answered. About 2,500 ophthalmologists joined the training during the day.
Within the scientific-practical conference "Ophthalmological spring without preservatives" a number of act lectures were given: act lecture "Procedure for certification - accrual of points and necessary documents, latest instructions" (head of the Department of Ophthalmology, Chairman of the Association of Pediatric Ophthalmologists and Professor Sergiy Rykov); "Glaucoma treatment - a good start" (Professor of Ophthalmology Iryna Shargorodska); "Methods for diagnosing Lyell, Sjogren, Stephen-Jones syndromes with eye lesions" (Professor of Ophthalmology, Chair of the Association of Ophthalmoplastics and Ophthalmology, Oksana Petrenko), "Route of Patients with Congenital Cataracts" (Associate Professor Iurii Barinov), and "Clinical case of undiagnosed postpartum chorioretinitis in patients with high myopia" (Associate Professor of Ophthalmology Yulia Panchenko) and "Post-seizure and post-vaccination complications. Peripheral Retinal Dystrophies" (Assistant of the Department of Ophthalmology Oleg Parkhomenko).

The scientific-practical conference with international participation "Ophthalmic Spring without Preservatives" was another proof of the urgency of anterior eye diseases, cataracts and glaucoma and, most importantly, the awareness of Ukrainian doctors of the role of ophthalmologists and optometrists in the treatment and prevention of blindness from ophthalmic diseases.
The participants of the meeting discussed and adopted a draft resolution of the conference, discussed the development of a unified clinical protocol and guidelines - "Glaucoma. Primary open-angle"; It is planned to hold a scientific-practical conference with international participation "Ophthalmic Spring without preservatives" in the next 2022.
