On November 4-6, 2019, on the invitation of former students of the program cycle of the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery (head of the department - professor Savoliuk S.I.) "Modern Minimally Invasive Methods in Phlebology", a thematic workshop was conducted on the basis of the vascular department of the Lviv Regional Clinical Hospital. The workshop was dedicated on the application of endovenous biowelding technology in minimally invasive surgery for varicose veins of the lower extremities and its complications.

Gorbovets V.S. delivered 3 lectures within 3 days, consulted over 20 patients and performed 7 surgical interventions for varicose veins of the lower extremities and its complications with the use of cathedral technique - endovenous electrowelding technology, which is one of the scientific priorities of the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education.

In 2018 the assistant of department Gorbovets V.S. has defended his PhD dissertation under the direction of the Head of the Department, Professor Savoliuk S.I. on this subject, which has become a program cycle for students on thematic refinement cycles and is exciting and interesting.

Conducting a live surgery master class and discussions during it contribute to the popularization of the scientific and practical achievements of the staff of the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery and Shupyk NMAPE, arouse interest and motivation for further training in the program cycles of the department.

Therefore, the staff of the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery will continue to use such practically-oriented forms in the educational process as master classes and days of live surgery, as these forms of short-term thematic training are promising, especially in the new conditions of continuous professional development of specialized professionals.
