On May 8-9, 2026, the scientific and practical event “WOMEN’S CHECK-UP 2.0” took place.

The event was organized by the Department of Oncology of the Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine, the Kyiv City Clinical Oncology Center, and Medlena LLC. The conference brought together leading specialists in obstetrics and gynecology, oncology, family medicine, public health, and related fields.

The scientific program focused on current challenges in women’s health, issues of early diagnosis of reproductive system disorders, cancer prevention, screening, and interdisciplinary approaches to patient management.

One of the key topics of the event was the importance of vaccination as an essential component of preventive medicine and an effective tool in combating oncological diseases.

During the presentations, the speakers emphasized the global importance of vaccination against human papillomavirus (HPV) in the prevention of cervical cancer, anal carcinoma, and other HPV-associated diseases. It was noted that HPV vaccination has demonstrated an 80–90% reduction in the risk of invasive cervical cancer among women vaccinated during adolescence. Particular attention was paid to the fact that the implementation of immunization programs remains one of the most effective strategies for reducing the burden of cancer within the population.

The presentations delivered by Fedir Lapii and Oleksandr Zub attracted significant interest from the audience. Fedir Lapii provided a detailed overview of current international vaccination guidelines, vaccine safety issues, strategies for building public trust in immunization, and the physician’s role in communication with patients. The speaker emphasized that the medical community must play a leading role in disseminating evidence-based information on vaccination and the prevention of infectious diseases.

In turn, Oleksandr Zub highlighted the importance of oncological vigilance and a preventive approach in modern medicine. Special attention was devoted to the association between HPV infection and the development of malignant neoplasms, as well as to the necessity of broad implementation of preventive programs among the population.

During the discussion, participants addressed the prospects for the development of vaccination programs in Ukraine, the significance of early screening, multidisciplinary collaboration, and modern approaches to fostering a culture of preventive medicine.

The participants concluded that the widespread preventive implementation of HPV vaccination is currently one of the most effective primary healthcare measures for reducing the global burden of cervical cancer and anal carcinoma.

The event became a platform for professional exchange of experience among researchers, practicing physicians, educators, and students, and further confirmed the importance of interdisciplinary cooperation in addressing pressing public health challenges and improving the nation’s health.
