On February 7, another online physicians’ meeting was held in the format of an educational consilium, bringing together specialists from various disciplines around one of the most relevant topics in contemporary medicine — cardiorenometabolic syndrome.

The event, organized by the department of cardiology of Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine, traditionally served as a platform for professional dialogue, exchange of expertise, and the implementation of evidence-based medicine into everyday clinical practice.

The first presentation was delivered by Olena Karpenko, PhD, associate professor of the department of nephrology and urology at Bogomolets National Medical University, entitled: “Cardiorenometabolic syndrome: a nephrologist’s perspective.”

The focus was placed on the interconnection between the heart, kidneys, and metabolic disorders as a unified pathophysiological continuum. The speaker provided a detailed overview of the mechanisms underlying nephropathy in metabolic conditions, contemporary markers of early kidney injury, and risk stratification algorithms. Particular interest was generated by the discussion of SGLT2 inhibitors and nephroprotective strategies in patients at high cardiovascular risk.

Marina Dolzhenko, MD, professor, head of the department of cardiology at Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine, delivered a master class entitled:
“Liver involvement in patients with cardiorenometabolic syndrome.”

The presentation emphasized metabolic liver disease as an integral component of cardiometabolic risk. Contemporary approaches to fibrosis assessment, interpretation of biochemical markers, and the integration of cardiology and hepatology management strategies were highlighted. Special attention was paid to the impact of lipid-lowering and antihypertensive therapies on liver function, which stimulated an active professional discussion.

The meeting once again demonstrated that cardiorenometabolic syndrome requires a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach involving cardiologists, nephrologists, and specialists in metabolic disorders.

Participants noted the high practical value of the presentations, clearly structured clinical algorithms, and the opportunity to receive comprehensive answers to complex professional questions.
