On November 7, another educational event organized by the department of cardiology at Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine. As always, the Saturday meetings brought together a wide audience of cardiologists, internists, family physicians, and specialists from related fields who strive to stay updated on the latest clinical guidelines and practical approaches to managing cardiovascular diseases.

The event was opened by Prof. Oleh Zharinov, head of the department of functional diagnostics at Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine, with a lecture titled “Foundational therapy for heart failure.” He provided an in-depth overview of the key components of optimal pharmacotherapy, emphasizing evidence-based drug combinations, modern dose-titration strategies, and approaches to reducing the risk of hospitalizations.

The question “Is it possible to improve the effectiveness of hypertension management combined with coronary artery disease within current standards?” was addressed by Prof. Olena Koval from the department of internal medicine № 3 of Dnipro State Medical Academy. She thoroughly reviewed the challenges of blood pressure control in patients with coronary artery disease, opportunities for therapy optimization within existing clinical guidelines, and practical aspects of selecting antihypertensive combinations.

Prof. Maryna Dolzhenko, head of the department of cardiology at Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine, delivered a lecture titled “Premenopause: a cardiologist’s view on cardioprotection in chronic coronary syndromes.” She highlighted how cardiovascular risk evolves in women during this transitional period, outlined lesser-known diagnostic nuances, and, drawing on contemporary scientific evidence, explained why individualized therapy for women in this age group is not just preferable but critically important for effective cardioprotection.

The program concluded with a presentation by Tetiana Slipchenko, attorney, master of law, and associate professor at WUNU, titled “Answers to key questions about CPD organization.” She clarified updated requirements for continuous professional development of physicians, mechanisms of credit allocation, the role of educational institutions, and opportunities available to clinicians of different specialties. Participants received numerous practical insights for organizing their professional education portfolios.

The event traditionally took place in a format of open dialogue and active audience engagement. Physicians emphasized the high practical value of the clinical cases presented during the lectures.
