On the 8-10th May 2025, the McMaster International Review Conference of Internal Medicine was held in Kraków, Poland. Developed by the McMaster University’s Department of Medicine and the Polish Institute for Evidence Based Medicine (PIEBM), it is organized in collaboration with the European Federation of Internal Medicine (EFIM), International Society of Internal Medicine (ISIM), and Jagiellonian University Medical College in partnership with more than 40 national societies of internal medicine from around the world, including the American College of Physicians (ACP).

This year, MIRCIM celebrates its 10th anniversary of excellence, bringing together experts, educators, and healthcare professionals from around the world to share knowledge, best practices, and innovations in internal medicine. The 3-day course is filled with over 30 information-packed lectures. The speakers are world-renowned experts in their fields, including authors of clinical practice guidelines and researchers behind breakthrough trials that shape the modern standards in medicine.

The conference included the Medical Education Forum 2025, which highlighted the current state of medical education in Europe and offered new opportunities for improving and developing education for residents, students and doctors. The development of simulation-based teaching methods and, at the same time, preserving the opportunity to work directly at the bedside is a pressing issue, which is also important for Ukrainian medical education today. The issues of the European Program for Continuing Medical Development/Continuous Professional Development and the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS) were also discussed, which were presented by Prof. Hannu Khalila from University of Helsinki, Finland. Another important issue concerns the Reconstruction of the Medical Education Program for an Active Learning, Competency and Excellence-Oriented (ACE).

We are honored to share that the director of the Institute of Professional Perfection of Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine Prof. Olena Sharikadze took part in the MIRCIM 2025 educational forum and international conference. Prof. Olena Sharikadze was an active participant in this forum and in the discussion, that took place during the forum, she shared the current challenges of the Ukrainian medical education system in the context of war.
