The Department of Language Training and Humanitarian Disciplines, led by Associate Professor L. Shevchenko, is firmly committed to the ongoing enhancement of pedagogical and professional skills among its academic staff. Recognising that effective education in the 21st century requires adaptability, innovation, and lifelong learning, the Department has cultivated a dynamic environment where continuous professional growth is both encouraged and practiced. Teaching staff are actively engaged in a diverse range of learning initiatives designed to strengthen their instructional effectiveness, digital literacy, and subject-specific expertise. This professional development extends beyond formal training, embodying a sustained commitment to pedagogical innovation and continuous enhancement of the student learning experience.

One of the department’s regular practices includes the participation in subject-specific webinars and online courses, enabling faculty to stay current with the latest trends in language education, communicative methodologies, and interdisciplinary approaches. Our pedagogical team frequently attends national and international conferences and professional roundtables, focusing on pressing issues such as academic integrity and competence-based education. These engagements promote meaningful dialogue on critical educational topics and help ensure that departmental practices are aligned with both national and European academic standards.

The educators are also involved in language training programmes, including "English for Academic Purposes", the British Council and Pearson Learning Hubs, Cambridge University programmes, as well as professional development courses “High Speed Training”. High Speed Training is a UK-based online platform offering fully accredited training courses accessible via computer, laptop, or smartphone. The company’s mission is to create and deliver industry-leading training that is clear, engaging, and easy to apply in real-world settings. All courses are accredited by the CPD Certification Service (UK), ensuring they meet internationally recognised standards for continuous professional development. Of particular value is the "Online Workplace First Aid" course, designed for individuals in all types of work environments. Accidents requiring first aid can happen at any time, and this course equips learners with the knowledge and confidence to act swiftly and appropriately. Featuring high-quality video content and written guidance, the course covers first aid responses for adults, children, and infants—acknowledging that response strategies can vary by age. This is especially pertinent for healthcare practitioners during periods of military conflict.

It is worth mentioning that L. Saienko, academic staff member of the Department, recently completed the "Online Workplace First Aid" course offered by High Speed Training and was awarded a certificate, reflecting advanced professional competence and a high standard of course mastery.  Drawing on her knowledge of first aid and medical vocabulary, L. Saienko effectively integrates real-world terminology and scenario-based communication from this training programme into the course "Tactical Medicine Essentials. Basic Military English". She actively participates, along with many colleagues, in international webinars and ongoing professional training programmes, reinforcing her role as a forward-thinking educator who contributes to the continuous development of the Department and the University community.
